The undead are among us and livelier than ever when Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and a talented group of young-bloods star in Interview with the Vampire, the spellbinding screen adaptation of Anne Rice’s best seller that’s “one the best films of the year” (Caryn James, The New York Times). Award-winning box-office favorite Cruise stylishly plays the supremely evil and charismatic vampire Lestat. Pitt is Louis, lured by Lestat into the immortality of the damned, then tormented by an unalterable fact of vampire life: to survive, he must kill. Stephen Rea, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater and newcomer Kirsten Dunst also star. One lifetime alone offers plenty of opportunities for the savage revelries of the night. Imagine what an eternity can bring. Hypnotically directed by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game), Interview with the Vampire offers enough thrills, shocks and fiendish fun to last a lifetime…and beyond. Ever since an accident turned her into a knockout vamp, Elvi Black’s been catching her z’s in a coffin, staying out of the sun, and giving up garlic. She knows there’s more to being undead than what she saw in Dracula, but she can’t very well ask her mortal friends about proper biting etiquette. But when her neighbors placed a personal ad for her in the local paper, she never imagined she’d meet Victor Argeneau, a vampire who could have his pick of any woman—dead or alive. Rich, powerful, a

Question by Sam: Why do people say that Vampire Weekend makes good political statements?
Everyone I’m sure has seen Vampire Weekend’s new album cover for Contra. Why such a fuss? Why do people think a blonde girl in a polo shirt makes a political statement?
Best answer:
Answer by Yellowstonedogs Personally, I don’t see it either but the band says (of the cover):
The girl’s identity on the front cover of Contra is unknown, although “she’s now living in Malibu”.
Lead singer Ezra Koenig has confirmed that the picture was taken in 1983 and was chosen as a juxtaposition to the debut album’s cover which, while taken in 2006, looks as if it “inhabits the same world”.
Koenig also referred to the girl as “Kirsten” in a post on Twitter.
The image of a blond, white girl in a Ralph Lauren polo shirt fits the bourgeois aesthetic of the band and is intended to represent the social and cultural conflict at the heart of the album.
Koenig likens the image to the Rorschach Test as multiple meanings can be extrapolated from just a few signifiers, saying, “Some people get very mad when they see a white blond girl in a Polo shirt.”
**I have absolutely no idea why**

“My legal name where I currently reside in the city of Liege, Belgium, in the year 2010 A.D., is Gaspar Valessi, but that is not my real name. The name I was given some 30,000 years ago, when I was born in a Paleolithic settlement in the region that is now called Germany– the name my father gave me shortly after I was voided, bloody and howling, from my mother’s womb– is Gon.” So begins the saga of the immortal Gon, a 30,000 year old vampire. This, the first volume of his memoirs, rec
